Most helpful customer reviews on Amazon. Verified Purchase. I loved this series, not all of the books in the series were great, but it's too late to offer advice on how to fix it. Loved: -Everyone in the 'Smith' Family stood by each other -Even though they watched, they never passed that invisible boundary lots of people can't do that, they 'feel' like the people are silently asking them to join, when they arent -You got to know everyone's story, or most of it. Didn't like that, because some of the mates said that when no one else had said it yet and I doubt that many people say that.
Just wasnt right that so many people said that. That's all I have to say, but it was much better than I thought it would. Good Job, Joyee Flynn. First of all, I have to say that I seldom write reviews-I think I have maybe two or three total on Amazon. I avoided purchasing this series for a while. I am happy to admit that I should have purchased this series much sooner! I read all of the books within a matter of days, and was sad when the series was over.

This third book in the 'Phoenix Rising' series is a little different from the prior stories. Our two main characters have been in each of the previous books as supporting players. I was very interested to see how the authors would shape this story. Sal is Riojos' brother from 'Collin's Awakening' and has been involved peripherally with protecting his brother and Collin, helping Tony and Kyle from 'Kyle's Return' and now has come to the attention of the evil man out to get the phoenixes.
So Sa This third book in the 'Phoenix Rising' series is a little different from the prior stories. So Sal and his bartender, Tibo, are on the run with the whole group. Sal has been developing feelings for Tibo for a long time now but hasn't done anything about it other than protect Tibo from everything going on.
But there's something happening with Sal, too, and it'll come as much of a surprise to Sal as to everyone else. Tibo hasn't ever wanted anyone as much as Sal from the day he met him. Sal makes him feel safe and protected. And right now Tibo is pretty terrified as they've been hunted and threatened with death at every turn.
Imagine his surprise when he discovers, during the course of a voodoo ritual, that he's a phoenix also.
When he had his heart attack at twenty-one he died and the paramedics brought him back, thus ensuring his rebirth as a phoenix. Tibo doesn't care about all that as much as he knows he'll follow Sal anywhere for he's in love with the tall, muscular, very dominant man. I really fell for Tibo because he had absolutely no qualms admitting he was a big chicken and he'd rather run than fight! The group locates an old, derelict Civil War bunker out in the Florida woods and decide to hide out there to rest and recuperate from all of the running.
Here is where we get more information about phoenixes, their guardians and what the evil is hunting them. They also are able to locate what seems to be a permanent home and headquarters. I liked that this book kept the interesting and unique story line going although I worry that the authors won't be able to continue the pace as the books go on. However, I am still interested in reading the next story whenever it is released.
Mar 29, Phaney rated it liked it Shelves: m-m. I am not sure I like him much, actually. Too bossy for my taste. Complete with a huge house to settle down in. Oh and both the antagonist and the guardians view spoiler [ and Sal hide spoiler ] turn out to be way more paranormal than expected. I kind of like that bit. As long as it does not overtake the human side of the story. So yeah. Some original mystical beings, plus a kinda-sorta werewolf. Le sigh. I am ready to move on to something else for now anyway. I don't think you are going to like this book if you are looking for something amusingly clever, sparkling and brilliant. If you do, well, you are in for a disappointment. This series is just a light read with some funny moments.
In my case I like them, and book 3 is not a exception. Wasting my money buying the future sequels?.. For me, this it is a fun read and I enjoy them. This is a third book and I didn't bother with the first two so I was a little lost reading this. I assumed I would be able to understand it naturally with no problems. I assumed wrong. There was a lot I couldn't understand and a lot I didn't even try because it was just too damn hard and with every chapter I realized it wasn't even worth it either.
The romance was crappy. I'm aware they knew each other for some time but it was totally out of t So I'm aware they knew each other for some time but it was totally out of the blue and way too easy for my taste. Not too mention how irritating Tibo and Sal were together. Tibo acted like a simpering fool who was afraid of his own shadow and Sal like an entitled prick with thoughts of greatness.
I didn't like either of them. They could've died a thousand times for all I cared. Same with all the other characters. This was just freaky and a waste of my time. Only reason I give this a two star rating is because I did manage to finish without wanting to kill them all. Mar 14, adrienne rated it liked it. Dec 07, Lakeisha rated it really liked it.
This was wayyyy better than the previous book. Love my guilty pleasures! Two new characters are introduced, a mission gone haywire, betrayal and the FINAL revilement of who Glades men are somewhat My fav in the series so far! Jan 04, Rachel Emily rated it liked it Shelves: paranormal-m-m , romance-m-m. I got kinda annoyed that Tibo kept being referred to as the "little man" all the time.
